Kays Bar, 39 Jamaica Street, Edinburgh – Feb 2011

Originally a Georgian stablehouse this bar has been operating since the 70′s but thankfully without the 70′s decor!

Around 7 ales pumps available with Kronenbourg, Deuchars IP, Fosters, Strongbow and Guiness.  42 whisky bottles on the top shelf counted as well as a good array of other spirits.  Was pleasantly surprised at the selection of gin – 7!  Edinburgh, Bombay Sapphire, Gordons, Tanquery, Saffron, Plymouth and Hendricks.

Small and friendly pub with  Two areas for sitting/eating,  Real fire in the front area.   Rear area has games and books as well.

1/2 IPA and 1/2 Emperor £3.70   (did not that Emperor was the dearest of the real ales on offer).

Food on offer includes mince n tatties, stovies, pies, currys and chili.

No children or “young people” allowed inside according to the poster in the front window.
